GRADING PROCEDURE

1.Flowers direct from the harvest blocks to be positively released by the intake QC
2. Place flowers on the rack to drain.
3.Place the flowers on the sorting tables for sorting and grading. Do not pile flowers on the tables but spread them uniformly on the plank to avoid flowers to length partitions placing them head to head level.
4. Ensure the defoliator brushes are in good working condition to remove all thorns and leaves. The machine should be on before loading the flowers, do not overload.
5.Strip flowers on the defoliating machine holding 15-25 flowers at a time depending on the foliage and thorns on the variety.

6. A lot of care should be taken to avoid flowers head bruises and stem breakages during defoliating.
7.Check flowers for pests and diseases, cut stage, bent stems, foliage deformities, chemical residue, stem thickness to meet minimum weight and mechanical damage as per specification. Remove all defective stems to the rejects bucket as per the quality tolerances guide.
8.Bunch good stems as per specification using rubber bands and SFK. Ensure correct stem counts and minimum weight per bunch and place bunches in clean buckets with clean post-harvest solutions as per instructions by QC.

9.Pack house cleaners provide and place the buckets on stands while in use, no buckets on the floor.
10.All pack house equipments should be thoroughly washed, rinsed and sanitised at the end of production.
11.Any missing faulty equipment should be reported to the supervisor immediately.
12.Quality checks during grading will recorded in QC2 sheet.
