Waste is put into coded containers, which are emptied then removed from the production area. They are removed to an isolated collection point way from the area. Waste is suitably contained in receptacles and isolated from the packing area. Plant material waste should not be deposited within 10 metres of production area.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR WASTE DISPOSAL
OBJECTIVE

To ensure that all waste from the farm is disposed off in an efficient and timely manner taking in consideration the health and safety of the worker, product safety, quality, legality and the environment

GENERAL PRINCIPLES
1.All reject should be disposed off by a contractor
2. This rejection is transported in the reject vehicles and dumped at the government site in a way that prevents pests and disease spread.
3. Pack house waste that does not pose any risk of pest and disease spread should be possible recycled.

REDUNDANT PRODUCE
1. This applies to all the produce that is rolled over and cannot be used for production. This produce is firstly isolated from good products in the cold store, brand identification is then removed before disposal.
2. The produce is then:
a) Taken for local sale
b)Given to third party reject collectors.
c) Taken for dumping by our contractors
d) Given to designated charities.

WASTE FROM THE PARKHOUSE
1. FLOWERS
a) Any reject arising from processing is isolated and put in designated tubs and or bins.
b) The waste in the bin is tipped over through reject/ waste hatch into waiting trailer.
cThe waste is then kept in a designated area where all plant material is composited.
2. Other reject including waste that has been swept off the floor and packaging
a) Any reject that is swept off the floor and bins of packaging are put in designated bins.

b) The rejects is then removed from the packhouse using the designated hatches, the waste is taken to a designated area outside the packhouse
